Sports Therapy is a form of specialised deep tissue massage which, on occasions, can include the use of electrotherapy, heat/cold and exercise techniques.  It is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of a patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

It concentrates on muscles, ligaments, tendons and general soft tissue problems.  Although a painful process at times, it is very effective with the recovery of the injury.

The techniques alleviate pain, mobilise joints, reduce swelling, improve flexibility and overall body movement.

Sports Therapy is suitable for anybody of any age who is active.  They do not need to be sports people.  General ageing aches and pains, stiffness, loss of movement and flexibility all benefit from this kind of treatment.

It is also hugely beneficial to people who suffer from certain medical conditions.  Although not a cure, it can alleviate the musculo-skeletal symptoms, which accompany those conditions, providing some welcomed ‘respite’.

Examples are:-

MS; ME; Stroke; Poor circulation; Anxiety; Stress and tension; Polio; Paralysis; Migraine; Arthritis; Post surgery; Physical disabilities.
